đź“° Your August Reset: Small Things That Make a Big Difference

“I barely left my house this weekend”

We’ve got three weeks left before the back-to-school (or back-to-busy) whirlwind.

Instead of cramming in bucket lists and running on fumes, what if we used this time to slow down so we can walk into fall with energy?

One Story

This weekend, I barely left my house.

Yes, I ran out for groceries — because life. But other than that? I was home.

I moved slow — watching crime shows, reading, creating. No running around, no social gatherings. Just me, my couch, and the quiet hum of a weekend at home.

I can hear you saying, “But Moya, I can’t slow down like that… I’d feel lazy.”

I get it. Slower can feel foreign to your nervous system when it’s used to running in fight-or-flight mode.

It’s like moving to the suburbs after living in the city your whole life — suddenly, the crickets, quiet, and open space feel unsettling. Your body has to learn that this pace is safe.

One Tool

Tonight, try this: Legs Up the Wall Pose before bed.

Lay on your back with your hips close to a wall and rest your legs up against it for 20 minutes.

Why it works:

  • It gently flips your blood flow, helping circulation and reducing swelling in your legs and feet.

  • It signals to your parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest” mode) that it’s safe to power down.

  • It eases tension in your lower back and hips, making it easier to fall asleep.

Do it in silence, with soft music, or while listening to a calming audiobook — whatever helps you sink into stillness.

One Gentle Reminder

Your worth this fall will not be measured by how fast you start running.

You’re allowed to walk in.

You’re allowed to be well-rested.

You’re allowed to take these last weeks for you.

📥 Bonus for You

I made you a 3-Week End-of-Summer Reset Checklist — a one-page guide with:

  • 5-, 15-, and 30-minute calm breaks you can actually do

  • Quick outdoor rituals before the weather changes

  • Evening wind-down ideas that don’t involve your phone

  • One small indulgence to try each week

👉 Download it here and keep it on your fridge or desk as a gentle nudge to slow down before September hits.

What’s feeding me lately:

  • Reading: It’s Not Always Depression by Hilary Jacobs Hendel — a compassionate look at the emotions we often bury, and how feeling them fully can lead to real healing.

  • Quote I’m sitting with: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you.” — Anne Lamott

As we head into the last stretch of summer, remember — it’s not about doing more, it’s about giving yourself space to be. Whether it’s 5 minutes barefoot in the grass or 20 minutes with your legs up the wall, your nervous system will thank you.

If you haven’t grabbed your 3-Week End-of-Summer Reset Checklist yet, you can download it here. It’s my gift to help you finish summer steady, rested, and ready for whatever September throws at you.

See you next Tuesday,
