đź“° 4 Reasons September is My Real January

January has never been my season for change. Between the holiday hangover, messy schedules, and dark mornings, I’m usually just trying to survive. The goals I set then rarely last.
But September? September feels like a real chance to reset. Here’s why:
1. The pace finally slows down.
The chaos of summer fades, school routines kick in, and there’s a rhythm again. With rhythm comes breathing room.
2. The air feels different.
Cool mornings and shorter evenings carry that “fresh start” energy. Nature itself feels like it’s turning the page.
3. Reflection feels easier.
After 8 months of living, I can look back and see what’s worked (and what hasn’t). I’m not guessing — I’m adjusting with clarity.
4. Goals actually stick.
Because I’m calmer, clearer, and less distracted, the intentions I set in September are the ones that carry me through the rest of the year.
And one of my intentions this September? Building stronger community with women who get it. Because we weren’t meant to carry this all alone.
That’s why this month I’ll also be highlighting voices from other moms who are creating spaces of their own — women building circles, groups, and conversations that remind us we don’t have to do it all by ourselves. Stay tuned for our first feature next week.
✍🏽 A Simple Reset Check-In
Try this quick reflection this week:
Look back at 2025 so far. What’s one thing you’re proud of (big or small)?
Check in on your goals. What’s one personal goal and one family/work goal that still matter to you?
Choose one next step. What’s a small action you can take in September to move closer to each of them?
đź’› A Gentle Reminder
We don’t need January to start over. September is the perfect reset — a time to harvest what we’ve learned, water what’s working, and release what we don’t want to carry into the last stretch of the year.
You don’t have to do it all. Just one step is enough.
🌾 By the Fire Pit
The other night I sat by the fire pit with my journal, and it struck me how much easier it is to hear my own voice when I slow down. No phone buzzing, no one needing me, just the sound of wood crackling.
That’s when it clicked — resets don’t come in the noise, they come in the pause. And maybe that’s the gift of September.
If you’ve been craving that kind of space, I want to leave you with something simple to explore this week:
📚 Book Rec: Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make—and Keep—Friends by Marisa Franco (a beautiful guide to building deeper friendships, especially in your 30s, 40s, and beyond).
🌱 An Invitation
If you’re craving more support as you reset this fall, my Calm in the Chaos Moms Group is opening soon.
It’s a safe space for women who carry all the things — stress, anxiety, constant mental to-do lists — and want tools (and community) to finally breathe again
